A former Wheel of Fortune contestant has shared particulars this week about what it is actually like to win one of the show’s high-value trip packages.

The contestant said the journey to Hawaii exceeded expectations.

“I wasn’t expecting it to be nearly as nice as it was,” the contestant wrote on Reddit. The remark, as followers call for a revamp of the show.

The prize included a 7-night keep in a two-bedroom ocean-facing suite at the Aston Waikiki Beach Tower. The package deal, valued at $9,000, broke down to $6,000 for the lodge, $2,000 for airfare, and $1,000 in spending money.

The spotlight video, which passed off in 2023, was later posted on YouTube.

Another person said that her husband inspired her to check out for the show, but didn’t consider she may win a trip, money, and a car.

“Definitely try out,” the winner replied.

“You have nothing to lose and an unforgettable life experience to gain. Becoming a contestant on a game show was always my dream, and I never thought it would come true. Now it has, twice.”

One viewer said she felt sorry for any contestant who gained that journey, calling it “not exactly a tourism Mecca.”

A former contestant from Texas disagreed, wrote that her journey to Minneapolis had been memorable, particularly visiting the ballpark, eating local burgers recognized as Juicy Lucies, and touring Paisley Park, the previous property of musician Prince.

“The folks around there were so kind,” she wrote. “If I weren’t such a Texas girl who doesn’t do well in the cold, I’d move up there myself.”
