It’s not a “Hard Knock Life” for JAŸ-Z followers.
The chart-topping rapper just announced he’s enjoying a pair of back-to-back live shows at Yankee Stadium this summer season celebrating the anniversaries of two of his landmark albums.
His first gig is scheduled for Friday, July 10. At that one, he’ll pay homage to his 1996 debut “Reasonable Doubt,” which turns 30 this yr. That file spawned hits like “Dead Presidents II,” “Can’t Knock The Hustle” and “Brooklyn’s Finest” among others.
Then, on Saturday, July 11, the 56-year-old New York native will return for an encore efficiency that includes cuts from the now 25-year-old “The Blueprint.” Notable tracks from the file embody “Izzo (H.O.V.A.), “Renegade” and “Heart of the City (No Love).”
“7/10 is labeled as ‘JAŸ-Z 30’ and 7/11 is ‘JAŸ-Z 25,’” according to Brooklyn Vegan. No phrase yet on whether or not or not classics like “99 Problems,” “Encore,” “Excuse Me Miss,” “Empire State of Mind,” or even “Hard Knock Life” make the set record.
But wait! There’s more!
A bit of more than a month before hitting the Big Apple, Hov — who has been referring to himself as JAŸ-Z with an umlaut online like he did on the “Reasonable Doubt” album cowl — is scheduled to headline at Philadelphia’s Roots Picnic Festival on Saturday, May 30.
At the time of publication, the only other act that’s been announced for the two-day extravaganza is The Roots, who curate the annual competition.
Prior to these gigs, the last time JAŸ took the stage was last summer season when he appeared alongside his spouse Beyoncé at a ‘Cowboy Carter Tour’ live performance of hers in Paris. The two delivered fan favorites “Crazy In Love,” “N—-s in Paris” and “Drunk in Love” in what was their first time onstage together in six years.
Triangle Hip-Hop Network reported “the chemistry was fire, the energy was insane, and the crowd? Word-for-word on every bar.”
As for his historical past with Yankee Stadium, the 25-time Grammy winner has performed “the House that Jeter built” twice before.
In 2010, he co-headlined with Eminem. Three years later, Mr. Beyoncé Knowles dropped in a second time and shared the highlight with Justin Timberlake as half of their stadium ‘Legends of Summer Tour.’
