White House breaks silence on fears of Iran | Political News

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dodged a query about whether or not Iran was in posession of Tomahawk missiles, as President Trump alluded to on Monday, saying the White House would “accept the conclusion” of the Defense Department.

“As the president said yesterday, he’ll settle for the conclusion of this investigation by the Department of War,” she said. “I know there’s been a lot of speculation in the media about who may be responsible for this. We’re not gonna get ahead of the Department of War in the conclusion of that investigation. The president has a right to share his opinions with the American public, but he said he will accept the conclusion of that investigation.”

“We’re not gonna be harassed by The New York Times who has been placing out a lot of articles on this, making claims that have just not been verified by the Department of War,” she added.

Leavitt’s feedback got here after President Trump steered, without evidence, on Monday that a strike on an Iranian elementary faculty carried out with a Tomahawk missile might have been carried out by Iran itself or “somebody else.” At least 175 people, most of them youngsters, had been killed during the Feb. 28 assault.

“It’s something that I was told is under investigation, but Tomahawks are used by others,” Trump said. “As you know, numerous nations have Tomahawks. They buy from us.”

The protection secretary declared that “the last 24 hours have seen Iran fire the lowest amount of missiles they have fired yet.” Similarly, Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at the same convention that the U.S. navy is transferring into the eleventh day of its operation against Iran.

Regardless of the administration’s celebrations, armed battle in the Middle East stays widely unpopular among Americans.

According to a new ballot from the Democracy Institute, a majority of Americans (65%) oppose the battle in Iran, as opposed to 30% who assist it.

Among them, the bulk of Democratic and Republican voters also reject the battle. Specifically, 53% of Republicans oppose the struggle, while 43% assist it. By distinction, 74% of Democratic voters disapprove of the struggle, while 23% approve of it.
