Would-be Trump assassin may have been motivated | Political News
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner capturing suspect may have been triggered by the Iran warfare, according to a new Department of Homeland Security intelligence report.
Cole Tomas Allen, 31, from California, was arrested at the scene when he stormed the distinguished Washington D.C. event, which was internet hosting the president and vice president, among other high-ranking authorities officers.
A preliminary evaluation by the division’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis said that Allen had “multiple social and political grievances” with the Trump administration. It asserted that the battle in Iran “may have contributed to his decision to conduct the attack.”
The report, dated April 27 and marked as a “Critical Incident Note,” was first obtained by GWN. It provides the clearest evidence yet on a potential motive for the assault.
Court paperwork said that Allen “disagreed” with Trump on varied political issues and “wanted to ‘fight back’ against government policies and decisions that he found morally objectionable.”
Shortly after his identification was revealed to the public, Allen’s so-called manifesto was launched through court filings. He despatched the anti-Trump e mail to his household and mates just moments before the capturing.
He has been charged with a number of felonies, including making an attempt to assassinate the president of the United States, assaulting an officer of the United States with a lethal weapon, transportation of a firearm, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.
President Trump appeared on 60 Minutes just at some point after the capturing, and confronted questions about Allen’s manifesto, which the interviewer read aloud.
“The so-called manifesto is a stunning thing to read. Mr. President, he appears to be referring to a motive. In it, he writes, ‘Administration officials, they are targets. I’m no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and trader to coat my hands with his crimes.’ What’s your reaction to that?” she said.
“Well, I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would, because you’re horrible people. Horrible people,” Trump lashed out. “I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anything.”
