A bunch of Republican senators voted together with Democrats on Wednesday for a decision to undo President Trump’s 25 p.c tariffs on Canadian imports…

Four Republicans — Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Mitch McConnell (Ky.) — voted for the measure.

They voted to specific their disapproval of Trump’s tariffs on Canada a few hours after the president introduced he would impose a 10 p.c tariff on all imports and levy even increased charges on imports from the European Union, China, Vietnam and Japan.

Trump blasted the GOP senators forward of the vote by way of his Truth Social account. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) celebrated on Thursday the passage of the invoice she co-sponsored:

Three of the Republicans commented after the vote.

Collins instructed reporters, “In general, one of my biggest concerns is: We should be distinguishing between allies and our adversaries and not treating them the same way.”

McConnell said in a statement: “With so much at stake globally, the last thing we need is to pick fights with the very friends with whom we should be working with to protect against China’s predatory and unfair trade practices.”

Meanwhile, this was Murkowski’s rationale:

Murkowski said she did “what I needed to do for Alaska.”

She stated her constituents are anxious about what Trump’s tariffs “are going to mean for price increases.”
