4 dead after float plane crashes south of St. Theresa Point First Nation: RCMP | Latest Travel News
(*4*)Police, navy search-and-rescue personnel and a chartered helicopter responded to the realm of Makepeace Lake, where the crash was reported around 6:45 p.m., Manitoba RCMP said in a news release on Sunday.
(*4*)Police said that 4 people — all passengers — have been pronounced dead at the scene. Those killed have been a 49-year-old man, two 50-year-old ladies and a 53-year-old man.
(*4*)All 4 have been from St. Theresa Point First Nation and have been heading to Makepeace Lake, police said. The lake is around 425 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, close to the Manitoba-Ontario border.
(*4*)The pilot, a 20-year-old man, suffered critical but non-life-threatening accidents, RCMP said.
(*4*)The Transportation Safety Board of Canada confirmed to CBC News that it’s investigating the crash, which concerned a de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver float plane.
(*4*)Police are still investigating, according to the RCMP release.
