Sean McDonough hopes Americans dont boo Canadian…
Sean McDonough desires mutual respect between American and Canadian followers after “The Star-Spangled Banner” was booed during the 4 Nations Face-Off final week.
The ESPN announcer, who’s on the call for Thursday’s championship conflict between the United States and Canada in Boston, defined that he hopes Team USA devoted gained’t boo the Canadian anthem, “O Canada,” regardless of the “political things” happening — referring to President Donald Trump’s tariff insurance policies and his earlier remarks about eager to make Canada “the 51st state.”
“I really hope our people don’t boo the anthem,” McDonough stated on WEEI on Tuesday. “Let’s be higher than that. I feel all of us have a lot of respect for what a great nation Canada is. And the political issues which have led the Canadians just lately.
“I understand it from their perspective, especially having been up there for several days. So, let’s be better than that and be respectful of their anthem and cheer like hell for our own.”
