Tom Cruise feared he would impale his skull | TV Shows
One of Tom Cruise’s stunts in the first Mission: Impossible that put him on the map could have cost him his life.
The Top Gun actor is known for performing the majority of his own stunts, which Ben Affleck made a jibe about recently.
His reputation has caused him some great moments, like an epic moment during the Olympics closing ceremony. However, it has come at a cost as he has suffered some of the worst injuries due to his adventurous career.
He has performed a few life-threatening stunts for the infamous Mission: Impossible franchise, and one of the series’ most iconic scenes is amongst them.
During the first film, Tom was blown from a helicopter onto a train. This scene is still talked about amongst fans to this day, with one on YouTube, saying, “I can still remember the goosebumps I got as a kid.”
“ I was constantly working and developing my abilities and developing technology,” the actor added.
Over time, the actor became very comfortable with putting what he had learned into practice. He has continued to elevate his stunts in every film and he did the same with the last film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
Director Christopher McQuarrie confirmed to Variety the stunts have gotten crazier, enough so that one made him “want to puke.”
“There are stunts in this movie that will melt your brain,” Christopher said. “There would be a day in Africa-any day in Africa—where Tom would go out and do something that topped anything he had ever done before.”
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will premiere in theaters on May 23.
