Bruce Springsteen ignites Trump feud after row with | Music News

President Donald Trump has been criticised by rock musician Bruce Springsteen, stirring up reminiscences among The Boss’s followers of a previous conflict with former US president.

During a latest gig in Manchester, England, Springsteen did not maintain back in criticizing the present US administration, labelling it “corrupt” and “incompetent.”

The artist declared: “In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.

“This night, we call upon all who cherish democracy and the best beliefs of our American experiment to stand with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism, and let freedom ring!”

Springsteen’s remarks about Trump prompted some Reddit users to recall the star’s earlier dispute with former President Ronald Reagan.

The 40th President of the United States famously referenced Springsteen’s anthem, Born in the USA, during his election campaign, but Springsteen claimed he had misunderstood the song’s message.

In a 1984 speech, Reagan famously declared: “America’s future rests in a thousand goals inside your hearts; it rests in the message of hope in the songs of a man so many younger Americans admire: New Jersey’s own Bruce Springsteen.

“And helping you make those dreams come true is what this job of mine is all about.” Yet skeptics criticised Reagan’s understanding of Springsteen’s work, and the musician instantly responded to Reagan’s feedback.

He mentioned: “The president was mentioning my name the other day, and I kinda got to wondering what his favorite album musta been. I don’t think it was the Nebraska album. I don’t think he’s been listening to this one.”

Fans have been fast to throw their weight behind Springsteen, then and now. A Reddit person on r/todayilearned indicated misunderstandings about the music’s patriotic overtone stem from not truly listening to its lyrics.

Springsteen now finds himself feuding with President Trump, who just lately took purpose at the musician in a Truth Social post following Springsteen’s latest feedback.

Trump referred to Springsteen as a “prune of a rocker,” prompting Springsteen to reply during his second Co-Op Live Arena show.

Springsteen said: “A majority of our elected representatives have failed to protect the American people from the abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government.

“They have no concern or concept for what it means to be deeply American. The America l’ve sung to you about for 50 years is actual and regardless of its faults is a great nation with a great people. So we’ll survive this second.”
