Its a Feel-Good Friday Independence Day As

Happy Independence Day! How fortuitous that my Feel-Good Friday column falls on a day where celebration and pleasure are more than acceptable! We have had an epic week politically in America with all the Trump administration coverage and legal victories. If you had been rooting for the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, then you feel good about President Donald Trump signing the invoice into law this night. My biggest hope immediately is that you might be celebrating in a technique or one other the blessings of liberty and the blessings of group. 

We stay in the South and nowhere close to a large metropolis with its restrictions, so virtually everybody places on a fireworks show. We plan to keep home, and I’m whipping up some wings and beef ideas with a salad. Once the solar units, we’re going to lie on our double chaise lounges in our yard with the three fur children (who are fortunately unaffected by fireworks), drink an grownup beverage or two, and watch the neighborhood show.

How are you celebrating immediately? For this week’s Feel-Good Friday, I’m commenting on a few of my favourite X posts from native-born and naturalized residents, expressing gratitude for the privilege of being a half of this great nation.

My fellow Chicago-born-and-raised and California transplant, actor, wrestler, and media character Mr. T (“Rocky III”, The A Team”), is always an inspiration. He loves America and always speaks of God’s hand on his life and on the nation. I really need to get some wardrobe tips from him, as my patriotic wardrobe is a bit sparse.

I first found Lily Tang Williams when she decimated gun control zealot David Hogg in a debate on Second Amendment rights. Then, when Williams ran in her state of New Hampshire for Congress in 2024, she decimated her carpetbagger Democrat competitor in a debate. Sadly, she didn’t win, but she’s made her mark and we’ve not seen the final of her politically or culturally. 

Williams is a proud, naturalized American whose household fled China. What I like about the legal immigrants that I’ve identified in my life is that they perceive the present we’ve in America and perceive absolutely how rapidly it may be stripped if we don’t honor, guard, and defend our constitutional liberties.

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares is a first-generation American whose mom fled Castro’s Cuba in 1965. Like Lilly Williams, he has a specific lens and viewpoint on freedom and how to defend it. In his function of VA AG, Miyares oversaw the naturalization ceremony for 98 new Americans who hail from 40 totally different international locations.

98 people from 40 international locations grew to become Americans at Fort Monroe this morning.

On the 4th of July, there’s no higher reminder of what makes this nation particular than welcoming new Americans to freedom and alternative.

Rodney Smith is a personal hero who hails from Huntsville, AL. He got here right here as a legal resident, studied laptop science at Alabama A&M, and in 2015, began his “Raising Men Lawn Care Service.” Raising Men mentors younger males (and ladies) by involving them in a 50-Yard Challenge, where they mow lawns for the aged, disabled, and single mothers for free. The story of how the charity began, and his experiences are fairly unimaginable. What’s even more unimaginable is that in making an attempt to work toward his citizenship, his inexperienced card software was first denied.

We have murderers, rapists, and all varieties of cretins who invaded the nation and are still slipping through the cracks; but this upstanding, honorable man who is doing nothing but give back, was rejected over a technicality. Through a letter-writing marketing campaign, the households whose youngsters have been modified through Smith’s non-profit and the recipients of the service confirmed their overwhelming help for Smith and he was in a position to get over that immigration hurdle. Smith achieved his American citizenship soon after! 

Smith’s birthday is July 4, and he posted this message of gratitude that is actually superior.

And the ultimate post is from one other personal hero. As a Black conservative lady, I’ve watched former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice for a long time. The approach this lovely, completed, and articulate lady has dealt with the ugliness and downright disrespect lodged against her with grace and humor, and how she has allowed it to roll off her back and retains being her genuine self, has taught me a great deal. Rice’s upbringing in the South and her adherence to conservative rules has also been an eye opener and an inspiration. Some of you’ll have learn my take down of former President Barack Obama and his horrible Independence Day X post. Rice’s X post is the polar reverse and a palate cleanser. It hits all the proper notes and displays what the celebration of this day embodies.
