Megyn Kelly slammed for harsh criticism of Stephen | TV Shows

Megyn Kelly found herself in a tricky situation after prematurely celebrating the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s Late Show by CBS last week.

Despite being on air for over a decade and holding the top spot in its time slot, the popular talk show was rumored to be facing cancellation. On her own show, Kelly took a jab at Colbert, accusing him of running The Late Show into the ground.

She stated, “He desperately wanted to be Keith Olbermann. And guess what? Keith Olbermann is a failure, and now so are you, Stephen Colbert.”

Kelly, a former longtime host on Fox News, has faced her share of criticism, notably from then-presidential candidate Donald Trump during a Republican debate in 2015.

Trump notoriously remarked, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. visible injury was coming out of her wherever.”,

Following this incident, Kelly left Fox News and inked a three-year $69 million contract with NBC.

This lucrative deal involved her leading a Sunday night news magazine show and hosting the third hour of the Today show, aptly named Megyn Kelly Today. However, she didn’t meet expectations in terms of ratings and was eventually pulled off the air entirely after defending Halloween costumes that incorporated blackface.

After a brief tenure of just over a year on air, her show was axed, and despite the abrupt end to her stint, NBC honored her contract in full. Following her exit, NBC News observed a significant 18% boost in ratings for the third hour of the Today show.

Kelly’s commentary on Colbert was swiftly met with criticism on her show page on X, as users were quick to point out her past missteps.

One user remarked, “Hmm. Let me get this right. @StephenAtHome @colbertlateshow had a successful 10-year run on CBS. @megynkelly failed MASSIVELY on NBC. In fact, she will go down as one of the biggest failures in media history. Didn’t last 2 years, and they had to pay her $60M-plus. Be quiet, Megyn.”

Another user chimed in, highlighting Kelly’s career trajectory and her shift in public persona: “It is one of the most amazing acts of memory-holing in media history that Kelly pretends that she didn’t sell out to NBC after Trump’s first election (using her feud with him and saying she was apolitical), and then after she was fired there slowly became a leading MAGA influencer.”

A third commenter brought up the topic of professional setbacks, saying, “If being fired/cancelled was the barometer for failure, someone should get Meg a mirror.”

And a fourth added to the conversation by recalling Kelly’s interactions with Trump: “Megyn, who had to crawl back into Trump’s good graces after he insulted and humiliated her, calling someone else a failure?”.

A fifth person quipped, “You might want to lighten up on the “cautionary tale of failure” and do some self reflection before calling anyone else out.”
