A federal decide has reportedly refused the Justice Department’s request to unseal the grand jury supplies used to charge Jeffrey Epstein‘s confederate, Ghislaine Maxwell.
The attempt to break the secrecy surrounding the Grand Jury continuing comes after mounting stress for the Trump administration to release more recordsdata. In a 31-page ruling, obtained by The Express U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer wrote that the supplies have been “far from” any significance.
“Contrary to the Government’s depiction, the Maxwell grand jury testimony is not a matter of significant historical or public interest,” wrote Engelmayer. “Far from it.”
“It consists of garden-variety summary testimony by two law enforcement agents,” the decide added. “And the information it contains is already almost entirely a matter of longstanding public record, principally as a result of live testimony by percipient witnesses at the 2021 Maxwell trial.”
Pressure from both critics and from within the president’s political base has mounted on President Trump and his administration after both the Department of Justice and the FBI issued a joint memo last month stating that Epstein had died by suicide in his jail in 2019. The memo also acknowledged that there was no incriminating shopper checklist.

The announcement was met with anger from the MAGA fan base, which has pushed for more disclosures after Bondi claimed in February that a shopper checklist was “sitting on my desk right now.”
According to The Hill, Maxwell opposed unsealing, while representatives for Epstein’s property took no place. Several victims of the convicted intercourse offender also submitted letters to the court in assist of the unsealing, but have raised considerations about the administration’s motives.
On Monday, it was reported that Engelmayer reviewed the letters but claimed that they have been based on the false premise that the paperwork would reveal new data. According to Engelmayer, that was “demonstrably false.”
“The one colorable argument under that doctrine for unsealing in this case, in fact, is that doing so would expose as disingenuous the Government’s public explanations for moving to unseal,” Engelmayer wrote. This is the second decide to have denied the unsealing of supplies associated to Epstein.
A decide in Florida had beforehand declined to permit the unsealing of supplies in relation to an investigation confronted by Epstein in the 2000s.
