There’s a lot of speak these days about “standing on business” but what if “standing” meant you had to sleep? Sleep in a chair. Sleep on the ground. Sleep on a sofa. Standing on business isn’t just about being resolute in your stance, it’s about sacrificing for what you imagine in. Rep. Nicole Collier from the great state of Texas is doing just that.
BOSSIP beforehand reported on Rep. Collier’s refusal to signal Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows’ mandated “permission slip” in order to depart the House flooring while accompanied by a police officer. According to NBCDFW, the state consultant spent a second night time sleeping in the House chambers as half of her protest against the racial biased gerrymandering being proposed by Republicans. The “permission slip” is a infantile and petty transfer by Burrows but Collier is aware of that one thing more insidious is also afoot…
“I didn’t really feel like I ought to be obligated to signal a piece of paper to have the opportunity to depart the ground, because we’re all adults right here. It’s a show of energy over people, and that’s what they’re doing now. They’re displaying that they’ve energy over us, and that’s why they’re utilizing the power of law enforcement,” Collier said.
Collier’s Democrat colleagues haven’t joined her in sleeping on the House flooring, but a number of of them have joined in solidarity by “ripping the slip,” tearing up the doc that they signed in compliance with Burrows’ inflammatory order.

Voters like the girl in black pictured above, Ruth (she didn’t really feel comfy giving her last title and who can blame her?) have also taken up space at the Texas Capitol building to protest the way in which that Collier and her colleagues are being handled.
Rep. Collier also obtained a shocking telephone call from former Vice President Kamala Harris to give encouragement that the sacrifice is being seen, felt, and appreciated.
“When you’re in those rooms, and it feels like you’re the only one there, we are all in that room with you,” said VP Harris.
The battle against the MAGA agenda will take a concerted effort from all of us but particularly those who we’ve elected to symbolize our pursuits.
