Oti Mabuse’s return to Strictly Come Dancing is reportedly yet to be confirmed. The 35-year-old stepped down as a skilled dancer after seven years on the BBC programme in 2022. Since her departure, Oti has been aiding the professionals and their movie star companions as a choreographer. It has been reported by The Sun that Oti might be returning to Strictly help out behind the scenes once again, but the BBC has confirmed to Express.co.uk that “there’s no news at this early stage about whether Oti will or won’t be choreographing for this year’s series”.

Oti was topped the winner of Strictly Come Dancing with Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher in 2019. She went on to turn out to be the only skilled to win the show in two consecutive years after she lifted the glitterball trophy once again with comic Bill Bailey in 2020. She announced her exit two years later, writing on Instagram: “Never easy to say goodbye. I have been part of the most amazing TV show, Strictly Come Dancing, for the past seven years and it has been an incredible time.

“Lifting the Glitterball twice and having the best journey with all my celebrities, but also assembly and working with the best crew. You are my household and I am keen on you all perpetually.”

Earlier this 12 months, Oti admitted she would “never say never” to making a return to Strictly as a skilled. In an interview with Prima magazine, she said: “The doors are always open, which is really, really nice.

“Aljaz (Skorjanec) went back and he’s doing really well. I went back to choreograph with him and he’s just in a different space. He’s absolutely sensational. So, you never know.”

After her departure, Oti appeared on The Masked Singer and turned a choose on Dancing on Ice.

However, the ITV programme was axed earlier this 12 months after 19 years on air. This wasn’t the first time Oti has had one of her initiatives scrapped by the broadcaster.

The South African dancer offered a short-lived Saturday morning show on ITV, with former Love Island star Laura Whitmore fronting the Sunday programme. The exhibits had been cut however during a schedule shake-up early last 12 months.

The mum-of-one admitted the show’s cancellation was a “lesson,” saying she thinks she has learnt more from the failures throughout her life.
