FOX NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews has hit back at claims that she is ‘under fire’ for feedback she made on her work-life stability. The reporter, 47, actually has a distinguished broadcasting profession to date, but she raised eyebrows during an episode of her Calm Down podcast when talking about the sacrifices she makes for her job.

Andrews said: “This is what I say to everybody who asks about our job, and this is what one of my first professors said. Well, he said it in a way that was very, very to the point, and because I grew up with a dad who was on television for a living, I got it.

“He said, ‘If you do not need to make $40,000 in your first job, get out. If you do not need to be told you need a nostril job, get out. If you do not need to be divorced, get out. If you do not need to work holidays, get out.'”

Andrews has slightly altered the saying, but still holds its essence to be true. She stated: “I do not say it like that, but I say, ‘You gotta love what you do.’ Because I miss all holidays. I did not get married until I used to be in my 40s. Not that that goes to be your route, but I live out of a suitcase. I miss a lot of stuff. I missed a lot of weddings, I miss a lot of occasions.”

She added: “You have to like it to get you through the fact [that] I’m not going to be home for Thanksgiving next week or, you already know, Christmas is cut short. Yeah, but I’m getting to work Packers-Lions. We miss out on a lot of stuff, and I just suppose you have got to take into account, ‘What do I like the most to help me through when occasions are robust and the job is not like all the glitz and glam.'”

Social media reactions were varied, with one user suggesting that Andrews was “under heavy fire” for her comments about her work-life balance.

This led to a swift retort from the FOX Sports reporter, who said: “Hey click on bait. First of all Happy Thanksgiving. Second of all how am I under fire? I’m saying you have got to love the job bc [because] you miss a lot in your life. Which I do and have. You appear to have missed the entire clip! See you for Packers at Lions!”

The comments were also filled with messages of support, as numerous fans expressed their appreciation for the sacrifices made to ensure the job is done.

One individual responded: “Every particular person who rips on you for this, but loves their thanksgiving custom of watching NFL soccer is a hypocrite and instead must be thanking you for your sacrifices and love of your occupation. People work on holidays so others can get pleasure from their holidays.”

Another said: “Happy Thanksgiving Erin! Thank You for working on this day bringing us the best coverage of more than just the sport.

“I appreciate you sacrificing for the job you love. hostilityrs gonna hate,” another supporter voiced in the feedback.

With Thanksgiving right here, the NFL coverage continues, three matches can be broadcast, ranging from the Detroit Lions welcoming the Green Bay Packers, to the Baltimore Ravens dealing with off against the Cincinnati Bengals. Andrews is poised to report from the match between the Packers and the Lions.

The Packers (7-3-1) are the underdogs for the match, despite being seen as favourites for all their other encounters this season. On the other hand, the Lions (7-4) are in search of retribution after their defeat against their divisional rivals at Lambeau Field in September.
