The Traitors followers all have the same query on their minds – what happens if a banished Traitor leaks the identities of their co-conspirators before leaving the BBC fort? Such an event would, of course, spoil the entire recreation. If Fiona had blurted that Stephen and Rachel had been in fact those in the turret each evening, it might imply the Faithfuls had nothing left to guess.

Bizarrely, it has really occurred before, but not on a UK version of the programme. On the Russian spin-off of the show, Heirs and Imposters – which stays an unlicensed model due to the battle between Russia and Ukraine – one Traitor misplaced it when he was banished.

One Reddit consumer explained: “A banished Traitor started yelling in another Traitor’s face that he was a Traitor and off-screen disclosed the identities of the Traitors. The next night, one of the Traitors was banished.

“The next day, production finally caught on about the slip, brought the recently unfairly banished Traitor back, made everyone Faithful and picked new Traitors. I’m not sure what the repercussions were after the show for the Traitor that broke the oath.”

It occurred in the first season of Russia’s “knock off” model of the show, which one Reddit consumer labelled “extremely chaotic”.

Something comparable also occurred in the Italian model of the show, when Traitor Rocco was betrayed by his fellow Traitors.

Another Reddit consumer explained: “Since everyone was accusing him, he eventually gave up and said something like, ‘Well, let’s say that I’m really a Traitor and I was betrayed by my fellow Traitors, maybe the person I’ll vote for will give you a hint on who the other Traitors are’.

“He proceeded to vote for one of his fellow Traitors, Maria, and when he revealed his vote he said, ‘I’m voting for Maria, but I’m looking at Giuseppe’, and Giuseppe was the other Traitor, so he gave two names in one.

“After all that, the Faithful were so dumb that they managed to lose anyway, despite the fact that he gave them the names of both Traitors. Giuseppe was barely questioned and he won. The last Faithfuls standing voted green with him still in it, insane.”
