He said: “Well, at long last, is my reaction. I’ve been calling out for this, frankly, for nearly six years, ever since the allegation emerged back in 2015. Now, I know there’s a lot of evidence that has to be gone through, and he hasn’t been arrested, as I understand it, for inappropriate offences, but misconduct in public office. But that appeared clear to me when we got to hear about the fact that he allegedly had asked his deputy press secretary to make enquiries into Virginia. That could, in my opinion, amount to misconduct in public office.”

Julia pressured that Andrew hasn’t been discovered guilty of something, as she added that it was attention-grabbing he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public workplace slightly than his connection to convicted intercourse offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Davies replied: “Well, I think this is the beginning. And with any case, you’ve got to start with what appears to be either obvious or is there in front of you. This is just the start, I would imagine.” 

He also revealed, as he used to work in palace security, he’s satisfied they’d have a clear concept of who was coming into the palace. He said: “Who knew? Who briefed? Because every day when I was in post, I had a cutting of every media that came in that affected the royal family, and they would have the same. So quite clearly, from early on when these allegations were made, senior palace officials would have known. And I allege, and I take no pleasure, but as an investigator, I allege, senior officials must have briefed senior royals as to the consequence, and they’ve hoped that by doing what they did in paying Virginia off, that would kill it dead.

“It is a advanced situation, but I suppose we’re at the very early phases of this investigation. But it is high time. But the consequence, not only for Andrew, but for his household and also his brother, the king and the entire royal household, is kind of huge.

“I’ve said before, I can’t think in my lifetime, and that’s quite a long time, of anything quite as serious. It’s more serious than when Edward VIII was giving information to the Germans, in one sense, because it’s today, and it’s dealing with today’s issues, including his misconduct, as far as I can see, in respect of who he was giving that information to, who he was dealing with, and who in turn they were dealing with, either for the Chinese, for the Russians, to the Israelis. I mean, it’s just a Pandora’s box, as I keep saying.”
