President Donald Trump appeared to be mocking former New York Police Department Officer Ethan Curreri at the National Angel Family Day ceremony, which honored the household of the late Laken Riley and the 62 people killed by undocumented immigrants.
On February 23, the Trump administration picked the date in remembrance of Riley, who was killed on February 22, 2024. It is the first event of its form honoring “angel families” who have had family members killed by undocumented immigrants, according to the White House.
During Fox News‘ broadcast of the ceremony on the same day, Curreri praised the president and said, “If you enter our nation illegally, there can be penalties in this administration. It comes after a former aide revealed the chilling motive why Melania will never go away Donald.
“The American residents must always come first. To Laken Riley’s household, your loss ought to never have occurred. We owe it to you and every American household to implement our legal guidelines, secure our border, and shield harmless lives,” he closed.
After Curreri stepped away from the podium, Trump told him, “I observed you left New York to come to Florida? In a manner, it is too unhealthy.”

“You could not take it anymore?” Trump asked, which drew laughs from the audience.
“They do not allow you to do your job,” he mocked bluntly.
“But thanks very a lot, Ethan, A extremely revered individual. I’ve to do a little checking before I introduce people. Or else I’d get in hassle.
“Sometimes, I introduce people, and someone says, ‘Sir, did you know this?’ But you checked out very well. Wow!” Trump completed.
Jose Ibarra was convicted of Riley’s death in January. Curreri, who arrested Ibarra for little one endangerment, attended the event at the White House.
President Trump also used the ceremony to assault the earlier Joe Biden administration as he continued to push his anti-immigration agenda.
“Throughout this hall, I am joined by heartbroken Americans who lost parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, and treasured loved ones to the scourge of illegal immigration led by the past administration,” he said.
“Millions and hundreds of thousands of people from jails. Millions and hundreds of thousands of people from international locations that we do not need to know about,” he claimed, including that 11,888 murderers had been allowed into the U.S. “by the Biden administration.”

“It was rigged by millions of votes. We did great in that election,” he claimed.
“If that election wasn’t rigged, every single one of the people in this room would not be here. You’d be home with your son, daughter, family,” Trump closed.
Last 12 months, Trump signed the Laken Riley Act, which required the detention of non-citizens who are arrested for, charged with, or admit to committing sure crimes, including theft, housebreaking, larceny, shoplifting, assault on a law enforcement officer, or any crime ensuing in death or severe bodily injury without bond.
