Brooks Koepka gives update on girl after rushing | Golf News

Brooks Koepka gave a constructive update on the younger girl struck by a golf cart during Saturday’s third spherical of the Valspar Championship.

The teenager was run over and briefly trapped beneath the golf cart in a weird accident, with Koepka immediately rushing from a close by gap on the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Golf and Spa Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida.

Following his spherical, Koepka explained that the scary incident did not have an effect on his efficiency, though he acknowledged it remained on his thoughts as he empathized with the girl.

“No, not golf-wise, no. I just felt terrible for, I believe her name is Shay, so from all the reports you’ve got she’s okay, thankfully. So that’s all that matters, as long as she’s okay, I know she’s probably a little scared and I just felt for her at the time.”

“So it’s unfortunate, it shouldn’t have happened, but as long as she’s okay, no, nothing crazy happened to her, then it will be okay.”

During the tv coverage, NBC commentator Dan Hicks reported: “Right now, there is a lot of concern over at the 15th hole where Brooks Koepka is playing.

“You can see Koepka has come beneath the ropes close to a golf cart, which ran into a little girl. She really ended up under the cart.”

On-course reporter Smylie Kaufman noted Koepka’s concern in ensuring the girl was uninjured.

“I’m just being told by security right here that the little girl is OK. Medical was not needed in analysis, and she’s going to be just OK,” he said.

“Really spectacular, too, Brooks Koepka, he was the first one over there. Of course, he is a dad, I believe we will all relate to that, just a scary scenario. I think about his head is spinning a little bit, but a lot of work to be achieved making an attempt to get back into this in some way.”

Koepka concluded his spherical at even par and stands at 4-under after three rounds, trailing chief Sungjae Im by eight strokes.

Koepka rejoined the PGA Tour this 12 months following his dramatic departure from LIV Golf, citing his want to scale back journey and spend more time with his household.
