Vice President JD Vance reportedly engaged in a heated phone dialog with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this week, during which he criticized the Israeli chief for making excessively optimistic forecasts about the battle in Iran, according to an Axios report citing both Israeli and U.S. sources.

A U.S. official told Axios: “Before the war, Bibi really sold it to the president as being easy, as regime change being a lot likelier than it was. And the VP was clear-eyed about some of those statements,” referring to Netanyahu by his nickname.

The same official also advised that Israel was accountable for reviews claiming Iran seeks to negotiate with Vance, viewing him as more receptive to brokering a deal to conclude the battle.

“It’s an Israeli op against JD,” the U.S. official told Axios, though the outlet famous there may be no evidence supporting the existence of such an Israeli operation.

Contrary to President Donald Trump‘s directives, Israel has disregarded his instructions, with its army asserting early Friday that it had carried out a sequence of strikes “in the heart of Tehran.” Israel also acknowledged executing a wave of assaults on Iranian infrastructure early Thursday. ‘Tense’ phone call

The following day after the purportedly heated exchange, a right-wing Israeli publication claimed the Vice President raised his voice at Netanyahu regarding settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.

Vance’s workplace refuted the account that he engaged in a contentious exchange with Netanyahu. “This story is completely false. The vice president’s discussions over the last week with the prime minister have been solely focused on Operation Epic Fury. The subject of this article was not even discussed,” Vance’s press secretary Taylor Van Kirk said in a tweet.

In latest weeks, a number of new outposts have been established in the occupied West Bank, where no fewer than 10 Palestinian civilians have misplaced their lives since the start of the month. Scores of settlers have set fire to properties and autos while launching assaults on Palestinians.
