Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight finally signed | Boxing News
Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to finally enter the ring against one another. Saudi Arabian boxing chief Turki Alasheikh posted the blockbuster news on social media.
There is yet to be affirmation from either facet on the fight. Alasheikh wrote: “To my friends in Great Britain – it’s happening. It’s signed.” Joshua is set to have a warm-up fight in July, with an opponent yet to be confirmed. Fury returned to boxing earlier in April as he defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov via unanimous choice.
At the time, the Gypsy King revealed he was signed to fight Joshua in the future. However, the man British boxer refused to be a part of Fury in the ring at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to verify the news.
With the idea that Joshua will get through his warm-up fight unscathed, the pair are set to meet in November with the fight broadcast to a huge viewers. The 36-year-old had been planning to make a comeback to the ring in March after his knockout win over Jake Paul in 2025.
Joshua has been spending time working with Fury’s fierce rival, Oleksandr Usyk, who he misplaced to twice in 2021 and 2022. Regarding the Fury-Joshua bout, the Ukrainian said: “AJ wins against Fury. AJ is the future undisputed heavyweight champion. I believe this because I’ve seen how Anthony is training. He’s a machine.
“I’m a fan of the soccer workforce Dynamo Kyiv. Sometimes my workforce lose. But I don’t say ‘you’re dangerous, you’re dangerous’. I say, ‘things happen, this is normal in sport’. “We must help each other. If we don’t help each other we’re not people, we’re animals.”
Meanwhile, Fury was stunned at Joshua’s refusal to enter the ring following his win over Makhmudov. The 37-year-old said: ” He’s had his issues. We all have. God is aware of I’ve had issues myself. I’ve tried to kill myself before. So I’ve been through it. I’ve been up and down.”
“I’ve been one step out of the mental establishment. We’ve all had issues and that’s life, sadly. If you’re in this sport, you’re either a boxer or you’re not. The downside is, taking interim fights in heavyweight boxing, you may get chinned by anyone. Even a journeyman can knock a good man out because they’re heavyweights. They’ve bought energy.
“I never mentioned Anthony Joshua in the whole build-up to this fight or since his accident. I’ve given him the respect that he deserves and his space. But he came here for the job and I asked him to do a fight and he should have got into the ring, but he didn’t give an answer. He didn’t want it. He didn’t look like he wanted it. He was just shell-shocked, didn’t know what to say.
“Let’s get it on. It’s been 10 years in the making. And after all this time, there’s still uncertainty about if this fight’s going to occur next. Do I would like it? Yes. But is it going to occur? I’ve no thought.”
