Elon Musk joined U.S. President Donald Trump on his summit in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday, practically a 12 months after the pair’s public feud.
The tech billionaire is among more than a dozen business leaders the president requested to attend the high-stakes assembly, which Trump indicated will middle on commerce discussions. Trump indicated in a late Tuesday night time Truth Social post that he hopes Jinping will “open up” China, so that the business executives “can work their magic, and help bring the People’s Republic [of China] to an even higher level!”.
Musk’s attendance comes as his electric car business, Tesla, is struggling to compete against Chinese rivals.

The Nvidia head is eager on acquiring permission to promote its artificial intelligence chips to China. Micron and Qualcomm have comparable ambitions, Trump said.
China prohibited the use of some Micron chips for its infrastructure in 2023 out of considerations for its national security.
In addition to chip producers, tech and plane executives can be current at the summit in hopes of signing offers.
