Anurag Kashyap faces legal trouble over alleged | Indian Movie News

Filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap has landed in legal trouble after a court in Surat directed police to register a prison case against him over his alleged remarks about the Brahmin neighborhood on social media.

The order was handed on Saturday by the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class A S Jani following a non-public grievance filed by lawyer and Vishva Hindu Parishad chief Kamlesh Raval. According to reviews, the court noticed that there appeared to be enough grounds to look at whether or not the filmmaker’s posts might have harmed the fame of a specific neighborhood and contributed to social stress.

As half of the order, the court instructed authorities to register a case under sections associated to selling hostility between teams, intentional insult aimed at disturbing public peace, and circulation of allegedly deceptive info.

The grievance was filed by Raval, who belongs to the Brahmin neighborhood and alleged that Kashyap’s posts on X contained objectionable feedback concentrating on Brahmins. According to the grievance, the controversy started after the filmmaker reacted to criticism surrounding the trailer launch of the Hindi movie Phule in April last 12 months.

The complainant claimed that Kashyap not only posted feedback seen as offensive but also continued making remarks while responding to customers who opposed his views online. It was additional alleged that the posts insulted the broader Brahmin neighborhood and had the potential to create division between social teams.

In the grievance submitted before the court, Raval reportedly argued that public figures like Kashyap maintain important affect because of their work in cinema and leisure. The grievance said that actors and filmmakers are widely adopted by audiences across age teams, making their public statements extremely impactful.

The plea also referred to an older social media post allegedly made by Kashyap in January 2020, where he had criticised the Union authorities and used phrases that the complainant described as objectionable in direction of Hindus.

Reports additional said that a number of notices and summons had earlier been issued to the filmmaker in connection with the matter. However, according to the complainant, Kashyap didn’t reply to them, following which a non-bailable warrant was reportedly issued against him.

As of now, Anurag Kashyap has not publicly reacted to the latest court order.
