President Donald Trump blasted Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) on Wednesday morning after the firebrand Democrat misplaced his main election on Tuesday.
He called Green — who has been in headlines in latest years for interrupting Trump‘s speeches in entrance of Congress, including this 12 months’s State of the Union — “one of the most mentally deficient Congressmen in the history of our country.”
“Congratulations to the Dumocrat Party! Al Green, one of the most mentally deficient Congressmen in the history of our Country, has lost, in a landslide, his seat in Congress — But I will miss that lunatic not screaming and violently waving his cane at me during my next State of the Union Speech. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! President DJT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
House Speaker Mike Johnson halted Trump’s deal with to Congress back in March 2025 after Green stood up and yelled out in protest. Green was subsequently kicked out of the chamber.
Just minutes into the deal with, Trump started touting a mandate to cut Medicaid, at which level Green shouted, “You have no mandate to cut Medicaid.”

Johnson then directed that Green be escorted out of the chamber as he and Vice President JD Vance shouted for decorum. Republicans in the chamber started chanting, “USA!” They also shouted for Green, who is 77, to “sit down.”
Green continued, and he was booed as he was escorted out of the chamber. Later during the speech, protesters carrying “resist” T-shirts have been escorted out of the chamber, too, despite demonstrating peacefully.
“Members are engaging in willful and continuing breach of decorum, and the chair is prepared to direct the Sergeant at Arms to restore order to the joint session,” Johnson said after delivering a warning.
“Mr. Green, take your seat,” he said. “Take your seat, sir.” He later added, “Finding that members continue to engage in willful and concerted disruption of proper decorum, the chair now directs the Sergeant at Arms to restore order. Remove this gentleman from the chamber.”
Applause broke out on the Republican aspect of the chamber, with some elected officers singing out, “Na-na na-na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye.” The speech by Trump continued shortly thereafter.
This 12 months, in late February, during Trump’s State of the Union, Green was thrown out of Congress again after inflicting a scene.
He was seen being escorted out by security as he raised his cane and shouted at the president, protesting the president’s insurance policies.
Green was ousted by a fellow incumbent, Rep. Christian Menefee (D-Texas), in a race for a district that obtained condensed into one under redrawn maps.
