Keir Starmer is dealing with an uphill battle as GB News revealed that more unlawful migrants are crossing the English Channel on Saturday (May 30). Charlie Peters and Olivia Utley shared the breaking update with viewers and had been joined by Human Rights Lawyer Shoain Khan, who questioned whether or not the federal government truly needs to stop the boats.

“I’m not sure what the government is doing and I think that’s the problem. We have lots of slogans from this government and the previous ones, but do they even want to stop the boats?” he remarked. “We have an idea on what kind of policies work and what don’t, but they seem to be repeating the same things.

Khan argued that the government’s solution to the problem is to send more money to the French and “hope they do one thing about it”.

He added: “We could be doing heaps more. I do not suppose they even have the need. It’s not just about they do not know what to do.”

“We’re being told that one of the 2 small boats that arrived yesterday launched from a seaside close to the French ports of Dieppe. That’s 100 miles from the seashores around Dunkirk where these crossings usually occurred,” the presenter said, before pressing Khan on whether traffickers will always continue trying because of the opportunities they will receive once they get into British waters.

Khan agreed: “I do not suppose there’s any doubt about that. I’m not sure the federal government even is aware of what France is doing. They suppose now we have heaps of taxpayers money, throw it at France and hopefully they deal with it.”

Khan added: “There are heaps of issues that the federal government could be doing but clearly they do not have the need. The authorities is far more involved about how the insurance policies come across to the public quite than truly doing one thing that’s going to make a distinction.”
