The president has confirmed studies earlier this week of Trump’s heated and expletive-filled cellphone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, admitting that he did call Israel’s chief “f–king crazy” during a Monday cellphone call. Regardless, Trump insisted that the pair “worked very well together” general.

The cellphone call was first reported by Axios on Monday, inflicting uproar in some elements of the pro-Israel wing of U.S. politics. In response, conservative commentator Mark Levin called on the FBI to examine who provided the data to the news outlet, while claiming it benefited Iran.

Despite Lebanon remaining a sticking level in peace talks, Trump told the outlet he stays optimistic that the U.S. will attain a deal with Iran “fairly quickly”.

A ultimate deal between the U.S. and Iran may reopen the Strait of Hormuz as early as this week, bringing down gasoline costs and the inflation that adopted its initial closure.

While rising costs continue to put a pressure on U.S. residents and other nations that rely on oil from the Strait, Trump insists he’s in no rush.

The president added that the U.S. naval blockade around the waterway might stay in place through Labor Day, on Monday, Sept. 7. This may have a detrimental impact on Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections, with more will increase in fuel costs possible.

“I don’t know. I mean, I think it could be [closed through Labor Day], but I think it’s unlikely. I think that we’ll have it. I think this will resolve itself fairly quickly,” Trump said.

The president reiterated that talks with Iran had been “rapidly evolving” and that the U.S. will make sure Iran is “not going to have a nuclear weapon, and lots of other good things are going to happen.”
