Trump Picks His Next Attorney General – RedState | Political News
After President Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi in April, the hypothesis over who would substitute her started in earnest. Would it’s Trump’s former personal lawyer and confidante, Alina Habba? Or possibly the president’s hard-charging Deputy Chief of Staff, Stephen Miller? Some thought it could be Matt Whitaker, who was performing AG from 2018 to 2019 in Trump’s first administration after Jeff Sessions resigned at the president’s request.
On Wednesday night, the president put all the hypothesis to relaxation: he’s picked the person already serving in the function, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino posted the above video where Trump revealed the news and said he will start the formal course of immediately:
Dan Scavino, the White House deputy chief of workers, posted a video Wednesday night time of Trump saying Blanche’s nomination as he spoke in the Rose Garden.
“He’s acting attorney general,” Trump said in the video, referring to Blanche. “Tomorrow I’m instructing Dan and everybody else that’s involved in that very complicated process, which is going to be, I think, very quickly, that we are going to make him permanent attorney general.”
Trump had already hinted at his choice during an interview launched Wednesday for reporter Miranda Devine’s “Pod Force One”:

That case is under appeal, because it was a joke.

The announcement is only hours old, but already, leftists like New Jersey Democrat Sen. Cory Booker are whining about the pick:
Sen. Cory Booker tells [NBC News’] Laura Coates he does not believe Todd Blanche has the votes to be confirmed as Attorney General, calling him “wholly unqualified” and arguing he would prioritize loyalty to President Trump relatively than serve as an impartial law enforcement chief. “His only qualification… is that they are willing to do his bidding,” he says.
Yawn. No matter who Trump picked, Booker could be screeching about “dangers to democracy” and such.
The next steps: Trump must make a formal nomination, then the Senate Judiciary Committee holds affirmation hearings, and if they vote to proceed, the matter goes to a full Senate vote. Don’t count on the method to be fast or simple, because Democrats will virtually assuredly use the hearings for political theater where they are going to air every grievance attainable.
