Donald Trump has seemingly ordered an investigation into California’s election delays while making unsubstantiated dishonest allegations against Democrats in the state.
As outcomes from Tuesday’s primaries began to trickle in, the president took to social media, claiming that voters have been “all tied up” and outcomes will not be in “for weeks.”
Voters in California went to the polls on June 2 to select candidates for governor, US House, Los Angeles mayor, as properly as other state and local places of work.
Despite offering no proof about his claims, Trump accused Democrats attempting to “steal” California‘s Gubernatorial and Los Angeles Mayoral open primaries.
He wrote on Truth Social, “The Dumocrats are at it again! They are trying to STEAL THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA PRIMARY, AND THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES, PRIMARY, AWAY FROM TWO GREAT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES. Here we go with the very late and massive numbers of MAIL IN BALLOTS.”

In a follow-up post on the social media platform, the Republican politician, 79, added, “There’s BIG cheating by the Dumocrats in California.
“Votes are all tied up. May not be in for weeks. Under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. Why the vote counting DELAY??? President DJT.”
It is unclear if Trump has actually ordered a probe at this stage. After Trump made his unfounded accusations, the press office of California Governor Gavin Newsom accused the president of lying.
“Trump is mendacity about California again – time to take the cellphone away from grandpa and put him to sleep,” they wrote on X.
Trump’s remarks came as former The Hills star Spencer Pratt is set to face off against Karen Bass in November for the Los Angeles mayoral race.
With 62% of the ballots counted, Bass secured 35% of the votes while Pratt received 29.9%.
Progressive Democratic challenger Nithya Raman was in third place with 22.8% of the votes.
In Gubernatorial race, which will see the top two candidates progress to the runoffs, GOP candidate Steve Hilton is in the lead with 27.6% of the votes, followed by Democrat Xavier Becerra at 25.6%. Democrat Tom Steyer is in third place with 19.8% of the votes.
In an election night speech in southern California on Tuesday, Hilton – who is running to be the state’s first Republican governor in more than 15 years – painted California as a state bursting with potential that has lost its way under Democratic leadership.

“We have a duty to revive California so it’s once again that image of every little thing that is great about our nation: vitality and optimism and ambition,” he said.
On Wednesday, he remained optimistic he would have the chance to take that message to the general election as vote counting continued.
California puts all candidates on the same ballot regardless of party and two advance to the November election. Counties are expected to continue to release results over the next several weeks.
The state has a historical past of substantial vote updates after Election Day that can sometimes shift the result of elections as late-arriving mail and drop-off votes are counted.
