Koepka announces tournament return after 11-year | Golf News

Brooks Koepka is set to return to the Genesis Scottish Open after a decade-long absence.

Following his choice to be a part of LIV Golf in 2022, the five-time major champion made his comeback to the PGA Tour at the start of the 2026 season. Since rejoining the American circuit, Koepka has repeatedly spoken about rediscovering his love for the sport.

Earlier in his profession, the three-time PGA Championship winner gained on the Challenge Tour (now recognized as the HotelPlanner Tour) in 2013.

“Every week is a new fresh start for me, and I’m obviously with my penalty I’m not allowed to play every event, and if I get the chance to tee up, I want to play,” Koepka said at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

“I’ve mentioned it a couple times, I’ve kind of fallen back in love with this. I’m enjoying the grind. I’m enjoying battling it out here. Yeah, it’s just a newfound love, a newfound passion for the game, and something that I’m really, really enjoying being back on the road and grinding it out and trying to find it in the dirt. I think there’s something to be said about that.”

Koepka also expressed his enthusiasm about returning to the tournament’s area. “I have great memories of playing in Scotland over the years,” said Koepka.

“Going way back to that victory in 2013, so it’s cool to be going back to the Genesis Scottish Open this summer. It’s in a great spot in the week before The Open, and has an interesting field with the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour guys coming together, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do.”

Koepka is joined by 2026 PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai at the Genesis Scottish Open, who made historical past as the first Englishman to declare the Wanamaker Trophy since Jim Barnes in 1919.

“The win at Renaissance Club in 2020 was really special. I played a lot in Scotland growing up, and being able to win on Scottish soil was an incredible feeling,” said Rai. “A lot has happened in the six years since, and particularly in the last few weeks, but I am as excited as ever to be coming back to the Genesis Scottish Open.”
