Fox News interrupted its scheduled programming during Donald Trump’s Oval Office press briefing after the president appeared to be “dozing off”, prompting viewers to mockingly dub him the “Commander-in-Sleep”.

Footage confirmed Trump reclining in his chair as he handed the ground to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.

The incident drew appreciable consideration online, with Democratic New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s press workplace commenting: “Sleeping is far better than listening to Lee Zeldin talk.”

This comes after the president’s peculiar remark that sparked concern following his 6-day disappearance from public view. The White House dismissed claims that Trump had fallen asleep, experiences the Mirror US.

This is not the first time the president has been captured “sleeping” while cameras had been rolling. In a comparable incident on May 11, a journalist shared a photograph of Trump with his eyes closed.

On that event, his group swiftly pushed back against allegations of sleeping, asserting, “His eyes are literally open in the clip you posted.” White House spokesperson David Ingle addressed an inquiry from The Daily Beast, declaring: “President Trump is the sharpest, most accessible, and energetic president in American history,” and emphasised that, “President Trump is working around the clock to make our country greater than ever before.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio had earlier dismissed claims that Trump dozed off during Cabinet classes and other public appearances.

At a congressional listening to, Rubio emphatically declared, “That’s false. I’ve never seen him fall asleep. On the contrary, the guy doesn’t sleep, which is a big problem because he calls me at two in the morning. He calls me at five in the morning. And, you know, I like to sleep a little bit.”
