Fox News halts as Trump appears to fall asleep | TV Shows


Fox News interrupted its scheduled programming during Donald Trump’s Oval Office press briefing, as the US president appeared to be “dozing off”, prompting viewers to humorously dub him the “Commander-in-Sleep”.

In video footage circulating on X, Trump appeared leaning back in his seat while Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum addressed the room.

“And what we saw at the Biden administration at the EPA was regulation, after regulation, trying to strangulate its existence.”

The episode drew widespread response, including from Democratic New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s press workplace account, which posted: “Sleeping is far better than listening to Lee Zeldin talk”.

The White House has disputed claims that Trump was asleep.

This is not the first occasion of the president being accused of “sleeping” while on digicam. A comparable scenario occurred on May 11, when a journalist shared an image of Trump with closed eyes.

On that earlier event, his workforce pushed back against the sleeping accusations, asserting: “His eyes are literally open in the clip you posted.”

White House spokesperson David Ingle addressed the Daily Beast’s inquiry, stating: “President Trump is the sharpest, most accessible, and energetic president in American history,” and famous, “President Trump is working around the clock to make our country greater than ever before.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio had beforehand dismissed claims that Trump dozed off during Cabinet conferences and other public occasions.

During a congressional listening to, Rubio testified: “That’s false. I’ve never seen him fall asleep. On the contrary, the guy doesn’t sleep, which is a big problem because he calls me at two in the morning. He calls me at five in the morning. And, you know, I like to sleep a little bit.”
