Trump calls Obama stupid son of a b—h in Iran | Political News

President Donald Trump launched into a profanity-laced assault on former President Barack Obama during a press convention alongside Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, claiming that Iranians view Obama as a “stupid son of a b—h.”

Trump’s remarks referenced the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear settlement negotiated under Obama. While Trump’s own memorandum of understanding with Iran pledges $300 billion, Obama’s deal drew criticism for releasing $1.7 billion to resolve a long-standing, pre-1979 navy trust fund dispute, in addition to unfreezing $50 million in property.

“So it’s like, look at this money he’s giving us. He tried to bribe his way out. I didn’t do that. Nobody mentions that. $1.7 billion and hundreds of millions of dollars. They tried to bribe their way out of it. And you know what the Iranians did. They laughed at Obama and they said he’s a stupid son of a b—h,” Trump acknowledged.

Trump additional remarked on his own settlement: “It’s a memorandum of understanding, and if I don’t like it, we’ll go back to shooting at them, dropping bombs on their head,” including, “We’ll go right back to dropping bombs right smack in the middle of their head, because they misbehaved for 47 years.”

Trump’s inflammatory remarks observe former President Barack Obama’s public feedback on the prospect of a new U.S.-Iran peace deal. The former president, joined by his spouse, former first girl Michelle, sat down with Robin Roberts for an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” program.

In a preview of the interview, scheduled to broadcast on Wednesday, Obama expressed skepticism that any peace settlement between the U.S. and Iran would characterize a substantial departure from earlier preparations.

“It is doubtful that any agreement that arises is going to be significantly different or a significant improvement from the deal that we had in the first place and had worked for a long stretch of time, before we, the United States, pulled out of it,” Obama acknowledged.

The former president said he stays “hopeful” that the “bombing stops and ordinary people are no longer suffering as a consequence of the war.” Obama also warned against dashing to “bully” or “bomb” other nations slightly than pursuing diplomatic avenues

“In retrospect, it’s a reminder that on a lot of different foreign policy problems, the notion that we can just bully our way or bomb our way to solutions may sometimes seem appealing but the fact of the matter is is that taking the time to explore diplomacy and exhaust the possibilities of coming up with deals that don’t solve 100% of the problem but solve 80-90% of the problem, while avoiding the necessity of going to war,” the previous president explained.

“You’d think we would have learned that lesson by now, but it seems like every so often we have to re-learn that lesson again,” Obama concluded. The footage from the previous president’s upcoming interview comes as President Donald Trump and Iran concluded a peace deal on Sunday night.
