George W. Bush spent his eightieth birthday attending a spin class led by his daughter, Barbara Bush Pierce, according to his other daughter, Jenna Bush Hager.

“Before we say anything else, can I just say happy 80th birthday to my dad?” she said. “It’s his 80th birthday, and I texted him at the crack of dawn.”

Pressed by her co-host, Sheinelle Jones, for more particulars, she shared, “Barb… my sister is with him. I wish I was there. She’s putting on a spin class at his favorite little place that he goes to — this local spot in Maine,” noting that her father is an avid mountain biker.

“So, all of his family and friends and then they’re gonna have a family dinner,” she continued. “He’ll have fun. And I can’t believe it — 80 years old. That’s wild. Happy birthday, Jefe, we love you!”

His daughter also shared on the show that her producers requested her to telephone him live. However, she turned down their request out of courtesy to her father.

“They were like, ‘We should call him!'” she said of the show’s producers. “And I was like, ‘He probably doesn’t want to be on TV on his 80th birthday. He wants to be left alone.’ And who are we as his children to make him do stuff?”

She also posted a celebratory birthday post on social media for her father, including images of him with his grandchildren, Mila and Poppy.

“Happy 80th to this Jefe! Love you,” she captioned the pictures. “Thanks for teaching me to love baseball and my kids, too.”

Former President Bush was concerned in a short movie in 2021 to promote his annual, multi-day 100-kilometer bike experience for veterans of the War on Terror and victims of 9/11, identified as the Bush Institute’s Warrior 100K Ride.

“Any day you ride with the vets is a good day,” he said in the video on his web site. “Many have come back and are doing fine; some need help. And to the extent that I can help them transition from military to civilian life, I wanna be a part of the solution.”
