Donald Trump weighed in on Bryson DeChambeau’s controversial penalty at The Open.

During the second spherical of The Open Championship, DeChambeau confronted scrutiny and obtained a penalty for allegedly bettering his lie on the fifth gap. Despite sustaining his innocence, the LIV Golf participant was penalized two strokes, sparking an indignant response that reportedly included threats to contact Trump, with whom he has developed a strong friendship, for help.

The 80-year-old has now entered the talk as DeChambeau maintains his silence on the matter following his return to LIV competitors, while recent hypothesis continues to encompass the struggling golf circuit.

When in contrast to a “fixer” for his function aiding the United States during the World Cup, he corrected the journalist, clarifying he was more of a “judge.” He subsequently addressed DeChambeau’s predicament and acknowledged the LIV participant was in a difficult place.

“I thought the Bryson call was a tough call,” he said. “You know, I saw him walking around. I see a lot of people, they’re walking around looking for their ball and weeds. OK, but I’ve been watching that. So, you know, I thought it was a tough call against him.”

The president then recounted how he contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino relating to Folarin Balogun’s purple card, asserting that his determination to have interaction with the governing physique’s chief labored out “brilliantly.” The United States fell to Belgium, 4-1, in the Round of 16 following studies of Trump’s involvement.

“Look, supposing that they didn’t let him play and we lost, everyone would have been angry, right?” he reasoned. “The way it was that they lost with their best player. “So, we were really pleased with the day, and then obviously had some discussions with Bryson at the back end of the day after the ruling.”

Regarding the infraction itself, Darbon emphasised that DeChambeau unmistakably modified his stance to gain a more favorable shot at the state of affairs.

Darbon said: “It was actually a clear-cut decision from a rules perspective. So, obviously, our team discuss it, the final decision sits with our chief referee, and we have a responsibility to our championship and to the rest of the field.

“And so, irrespective of which participant this affected, it is the same determination. From a guidelines perspective, it was clear-cut.”
