Lorraine Kellys heartbreaking death admission months | UK News


Lorraine Kelly revealed the tune she wished performed at her funeral in a new interview. The Scottish-born presenter, 66, opened up about her profession as one of ITV’s longest-running daytime hosts. The broadcaster made a candid admission as she spoke about residing a long life.

It comes after Lorraine suffered a heartbreaking loss in January. The on-screen star’s dad, John Kelly, sadly died aged 84. In a post on shared on social media at the time, Lorraine said her father “was in poor health but his death has still been a shock”. John was reportedly discovered injured on an outside path in his home city of East Kilbride, close to St Leonard’s Square purchasing centre.

The presenter penned: “Very sad news. My dad has died. I am mourning the man who bought me a telescope when I was five years old, who watched the moon landings with me and taught me to always be curious and interested in everything.

“He was in poor health but it has still been a shock. We will miss you dad.”

In a Q&A with the Irish Independent’s Sunday magazine Lorraine shared the song she wanted played at her funeral.

“Careful by Horse. She’s a Scottish artist,” the presenter explained. “It’s the most lovely, haunting tune.”

Lorraine continued: “After that, I’d need everybody to have a huge occasion. Hopefully, I’m going to die in my mattress when I’m 102.”

The ITV favourite also opened up about the afterlife but admitted she is not a religious person.

She added: “…but I believe that you live in on in the people who love you.”

Meanwhile, the presenter recently confirmed her show is now on a break from screens.

The TV legend signed off from her eponymous programme on July 3 by telling viewers the show will be off air “for a wee while” and that she will “actually miss” everyone.

She said on the episode: “That’s all from us for now. I’m away for a wee while.

“I’ll really miss you, but I will see you very, very soon.”

It comes after ITV’s finances cuts pressured Lorraine’s on-air time to be slashed from an hour to half-hour, and transfer to a 30-week “seasonal basis” timetable, which got here into pressure in January.
