While the new PM and his Labour government may be interested in re-joining the UK, economist and journalist Liam Halligan has warned against the decision. “I do not settle for that going through absolutely the trauma of making an attempt to rejoin the European Union goes to help us economically in any manner at all,” he said.
“I believe it can hinder us, because it can just ensnare us in ever more regulation, which is the other of what we need.”
Instead, Halligan suggests that the UK is “miles away from taking benefit of the freedoms that Brexit offers us – completely miles away.”
