Federal authorities are charged with defending the public, but a Secret Service agent not too long ago deserted that responsibility to participate in a fraternity hazing ritual so brutal that prosecutors say it practically turned lethal for males who needed to turn out to be members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
According to NBC News, 29-year-old Marquez Christopher Pinder, a Secret Service agent assigned to the company’s Miami subject workplace, has been charged alongside two other males in connection with what investigators describe as a sequence of savage fraternity hazing beatings involving canes and paddles. The males are going through felony expenses including hazing with a lethal weapon, aggravated battery inflicting great bodily hurt, and tried manslaughter after two potential members allegedly suffered life-threatening accidents.
Police say the violent fraternity ritual unfolded over 4 nights in early April during the pledging course of for the University of Miami Coral Gables chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. By the fourth evening, one pledge was so badly injured that he reportedly had blood soaking through his pants, but the beatings didn’t stop until fraternity leaders allegedly ordered the alleged victims to take away their blood-stained garments, place them in rubbish luggage, and go home.
The faculty issued a public assertion making it very clear that this state agent is just not half of their tribe.
“The agent, Marquez Christopher Pinder is in no way affiliated with the University of Miami or the University’s undergraduate chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi,” according to a college assertion.
The aftermath was nothing short of horrifying. One sufferer reportedly suffered extreme wounds that required pores and skin grafts and sustained kidney injury so critical that investigators said he would have gone into deadly renal failure without emergency medical treatment. Another sufferer was hospitalized and intubated to keep him alive after struggling equally devastating accidents, according to arrest data.
The Secret Service has positioned Pinder on administrative depart while the legal case strikes ahead, saying it’s cooperating with investigators and will deal with any misconduct after the judicial course of concludes. Pinder, who joined the company in 2023, was launched after posting a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in September. His attorney had not publicly commented on the allegations at the time of reporting.
