Another household says an ICE detention heart turned the place where their cherished one was irrevocably harmed, and they’re demanding solutions after what they describe as an egregious failure to present basic medical care.
According to Yahoo! News, the household of Gabriel Johnson says the North Carolina pastor and lawful everlasting U.S. resident since age 15 suffered a huge stroke after allegedly being denied access to crucial medication while being transferred through a number of ICE detention services. Johnson’s household was told that he was taken over a “misunderstanding” about an alleged missed immigration appointment but had been later told that he was perused for deportation following a change in federal coverage. In the streets, they call that “cap”. The now-55-year-old is a Liberian immigrant with a documented historical past of high blood pressure and earlier strokes, making constant medical treatment not just important, but lifesaving.
Gabri Johnson, Gabriel’s daughter, alleges her father went days without receiving his prescribed medication before struggling the stroke, leaving him with extreme mind injury, paralysis, and a long street of recovery forward. The household also says they struggled to discover out where Johnson had been taken after the medical emergency, including more confusion and heartbreak to an already devastating scenario. They’re now calling for a full investigation into whether or not ICE failed to present the medical care he desperately needed while he was in authorities custody.
“I got a call from the hospital in Texas today saying that my father was rushed there after having a stroke. Like he’s been telling them, give me my medication, give me food, give me water. They laughed at him. They refused. My father had a stroke in the left side of his body is completely paralyzed right now. ICE is fully responsible for this.”
For Johnson’s family members, this isn’t about politics, it’s about accountability. A person who entered ICE custody alive, nicely, and in steady condition is now dealing with life-altering disabilities after a medical disaster that may have simply been prevented. Sadly, ICE isn’t in decency, nor the humanity of the people they’re accosting
As scrutiny over circumstances inside ICE detention services continues to intensify, Johnson’s case is including yet another disturbing chapter to the growing checklist of households who say authorities custody turned the very place where their family members suffered irreversible hurt. Whether federal officers will reply those allegations stays to be seen, but Johnson’s household says they aren’t going to stop asking questions until somebody does.
