As the Ukraine-Russia warfare drags on in its fifth 12 months, more than half of Russia’s areas are paying money bonuses to people who recruit troopers to combat the warfare against Ukraine, according to a new report.

An analysis by The Moscow Times confirmed that 56 Russian areas had launched recruitment rewards, up from 31 a 12 months earlier, with the sharpest increase coming in the Smolensk area, a closely backed area, where the bonus has jumped almost tenfold.

“If recruitment fails, there will be mobilization,” he said. “That is why the regions have been instructed to conduct aggressive recruitment campaigns, while the state turns a blind eye to violations of the law during coercive recruitment.”
Economist Dmitry Nekrasov argued that Russia still has room to increase funds additional.
“Even one million rubles is not the limit,” he said, arguing that increased bonuses stay inexpensive in contrast with the general value of deploying a contract soldier.
It comes as 1.3 million Russian troops have died in Ukraine since the start of its invasion in February 2022, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
