Actor Shruti Haasan has approached the Bombay High Court looking for safety against the unauthorised use of her image and likeness through AI-generated content, including deepfakes and manipulated videos. The court has granted her interim relief in the matter and directed the removing of content flagged by her.

Justice Madhav Jamdar noticed that the continued circulation of AI-generated deepfakes, manipulated photos, chatbots and other allegedly infringing materials may trigger “irreparable injury” to Haasan’s popularity, goodwill and industrial pursuits.

The court famous that deepfake content may be replicated and circulated widely once it seems online, making the potential harm tough to handle through financial compensation alone. It also noticed that morphed, deepfake and superimposed photos and videos can have an effect on an particular person’s persona, publicity and ethical rights.

Haasan’s legal motion covers a number of types of alleged unauthorised use, including AI-generated deepfakes, manipulated videos, industrial endorsements and merchandise that includes her image or likeness without permission.
