There’s a new Foo Fighter in city! 

The rock band confirmed in May that they’d parted methods with Josh Freese after he changed long-time Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022 following his death.

Josh, who has carried out with bands such as Devo and Guns N’ Roses, stated at the time, “The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they’ve decided to go in a different direction with their drummer.” 

While no reason was given for the band’s decision, Josh added, “Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.”

But now it has been confirmed that Ilan Rubin will step in as the band’s new drummer forward of the Foo Fighters’ next stay show in October.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, it’s unclear whether or not Ilan will be a part of that band full-time or only as a touring drummer.

So, what do we know about him?

Ilan most not too long ago performed with Trent Reznor in Nine Inch Nails. In a coincidental swap, Josh will probably be returning to Nine Inch Nails to change Ilan as he takes up his place in the Foo Fighters.

Ilan, who is 37, is an American drummer who has most notably performed in bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Paramore and Lostprophets.

He first joined the Welsh band Lostprophets in 2006 after founding member Mike Chaplin left. His time in the band ended when he left in 2008 to be a part of Nine Inch Nails.

Upon becoming a member of Nine Inch Nails, the musician changed Josh and went on to play piano, synths and different devices in the band’s stay reveals.

Then, in 2020, Ilan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as half of Nine Inch Nails, which made him the youngest inductee in historical past and the first inductee to be born in the Eighties and born after the Hall of Fame was established.

While remaining in the band over the years, Ilan supplied drums for bands such as Paramore. He also recorded the drums for the band’s self-titled fourth album and joined them on tour.

He went on to carry out with movie composer Danny Elfman and Angels & Airwaves. He has also launched solo work under the pseudonym The New Regime.

As for his life away from the drums, Ilan has a spouse, Samantha Gray Hissong, a Rolling Stone magazine journalist, whom he married in 2020.

The pair share one son, Elton, and are also gearing up to welcome their second soon.
