Carrie Underwood initially wasn’t facing potential consequences on American Idol for performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration, but in the early days of his presidency, that may no longer be the case.
The singer, who allegedly had a “hissy fit” after her performance was hit with technical issues, had previously been safe despite her American Idol bosses not being thrilled with her for performing.
However, while they weren’t thrilled, it had been stated her job wasn’t on the line.
Now, following Trump’s first days in office, which included strict actions against the LGBTQ community, the show is potentially reconsidering things, as they go into “crisis” talks.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, sources said there there are concerns that her support for Trump will clash with the show’s values, which promote equality for the LGBTQ community.
Since his inauguration, Trump has signed a number of executive orders, including one that ends legal recognition of transgender and nonbinary people under federal law.
He also put an end to DEI hires in the federal workplace, which could also have an impact on the community.
As for Idol, members of the LGBTQ community, several stars from the show have come out and been open about their sexuality since.
This has included winner Clay Aiken and finalists Adam Lambert and David Archuleta.
