Following the incident, footage shared across social media captured a visibly disoriented Joshua being extracted from the mangled vehicle. He was among 5 occupants in the car, with two others rising without injury.

A witness has now revealed Joshua’s state immediately after the collision.

Ajala Yusuf Oluwaseyi recalled listening to a thunderous “boom” and initially assumed a tyre had exploded, before discovering a vehicle had crashed beneath a lorry stationed on the motorway.

Speaking to Gossip Wire News he described Joshua as profoundly affected by what he termed the “deadliness of the incident”, stating: “He was shocked, he couldn’t talk.”

On Tuesday, Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) announced the trigger of the deadly crash.

In an official assertion, the FRSC confirmed: “The incident involved two vehicles: a black Lexus Jeep and a stationary red commercial Sinotruck with unknown registration number. A total of five adult males were involved in the crash.

“Two individuals sadly misplaced their lives, one sustained accidents, while two others escaped unharmed. Anthony Joshua was rescued alive and sustained minor accidents. The injured sufferer was evacuated for medical consideration, while the stays of the deceased had been conveyed to Livewell Morgue, Ajaka, Sagamu.

“The Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division (MTD) was duly notified for further investigation and necessary documentation. Preliminary findings indicate that the Lexus Jeep, which was suspected to be travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit on the corridor, lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre and crashed into a stationary truck well packed by the side of the road.”

Tributes have flooded in for the 2 males who died in the devastating crash, both of whom had been close pals of Joshua and labored alongside the boxer.
