David Ellison is meant to be close to President Donald Trump.

So why is Paramount still pushing left-leaning content like nothing has modified?

Ellison has met privately with Trump at the White House and has been a repeated customer during his second time period. His company has also described sustaining “a good relationship with the administration,” and Trump has referred to Ellison’s father, Oracle founder Larry Ellison, as a “good friend.”

None of it reveals up on screen.

That degree of access is direct and sustained, which is strictly why the shortage of any corresponding shift stands out as a lot as it does.

The company’s own rollout of its “Changemakers” initiative makes the direction clear from the start.

“Paramount+ today announced ‘Changemakers,’ a new global content initiative spotlighting diverse voices and stories that drive social impact.”

That language doesn’t just live in a press release. On the platform itself, the same themes start to seem across its programming, not as remoted choices but as a sample in its greatest titles.

Paramount+ is still building major elements of its lineup around identification politics and progressive social messaging, mirrored in the reveals it continues to promote as half of its core offering.

“The L Word: Generation Q follows a group of diverse LGBTQ+ characters as they experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in Los Angeles.” 

This will not be tucked away as area of interest programming or handled as one thing separate from the remaining of the platform. It sits alongside other major titles, and the same strategy carries into franchises that once had a very different tone, where that shift has been layered in over time quite than launched all at once.

The sample is clear. And for all the discuss about Ellison’s ties to Trump, nothing on screen suggests something has modified.

Taken together, those selections don’t really feel scattered. They really feel constant, and that consistency is what makes the distinction more durable to ignore, particularly since the expectation surrounding Ellison has not modified.

The expectation is still there that it ought to translate into one thing different. If something, that expectation only grew when Ellison introduced in Bari Weiss to help reshape CBS, a transfer read as a signal that one thing inside the broader Paramount ecosystem may start to shift.

That shift is tough to discover. The platform’s messaging has nFot modified. The programming combine has not modified either, and across flagship reveals and new initiatives alike, the tone retains transferring in the same direction it already was, leaving a hole that only turns into more apparent the longer you look at it.

Ellison’s proximity to Trump suggests one trajectory, while the content popping out of Paramount factors in another, and proper now, it’s the content, not the notion, that defines the company.
