Antiques Roadshow host speechless over | TV Shows
On the latest installment of Antiques Roadshow, expert Joanna Hardy was taken aback by the immense value of an exceptional family heirloom.
During a picturesque stop at Beaumaris Castle in Anglesey on Sunday (May 18), hosted by Fiona Bruce, one standout piece caught everyone’s attention amid a sea of eagerly awaiting valuations.
Mesmerized by the sheer beauty of an “extraordinary” bracelet shimmering in the sunlight, Hardy couldn’t help but exclaim, “This bracelet is just glistening in the sun here,” as she admired the gold nuggets seemingly plucked straight from the ground.
The bracelet’s owner shared its backstory, saying, “This was a bracelet that my grandfather gave to my grandmother.”
She delved into her ancestral past, stating, “And my grandfather worked in Segovia, in Colombia in the Frontino mines in the ’30s and ’40s. He was an engineer so I don’t believe he mined those nuggets with his hands, but I think he must have acquired them there.”
The owner, astounded, let out a “Wow!” and followed with a flustered “Okay, wow… that’s quite a lot more than..”
Upon hearing the appraisal, she enthused, “Oh, everybody says that I know. It’s really a lot more than I thought.
“Thank you very much!” Joanna, the appraiser, joined in the joy, exclaiming, “Oh you’ve made me tingle as well!”
Antiques Roadshow airs on PBS in the US and BBC in the UK.
