“Avatar: Fire and Ash” was in first place in theaters for the fourth Friday in a row, raking in $5.1 million on Jan. 9, according to The Numbers.
The third installment in the James Cameron sci-fi franchise has already handed the $1 billion mark in global earnings.

In the second spot was “Primate,” which opened on Friday with gross sales of $4.55 million.
Fox News said the horror movie — which facilities around a household’s chimp that turns into a cold-blooded killer — “flexes its muscle despite the lack of star power in a genre that’s been struggling for originality.”
“The Housemaid,” the thriller starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, moved up a notch to third, with $3.32 in income.
In fourth was “Greenland 2: Migration,” with a $3.26 million take on its opening day.
