Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette was set to be very different from seasons past for a number of causes, including a major change to the show’s episode schedule, before it was yanked by ABC.
Paul, 31, who also stars on Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, was forged as the lead for the show’s twenty second season, and was set to see it premiere on ABC beginning on March 22.
However, after video emerged of a 2023 home violence incident with her ex, Dakota Mortensen, ABC scrapped the season just days before.
Prior to the show being cut amid an ongoing scandal stemming from that video and new allegations that both she and Mortensen have leveled against one another, some major modifications had been being made forward of the show’s premiere, including a shift in the schedule.
While followers often get to watch exhibits from the Bachelor universe on Monday nights, this time around, the show was set to air solely on Sunday nights.

The ABC show confirmed it was switching to a Sunday night time schedule when the new episodes had been announced, one thing that confused some followers who had been used to it airing on a weeknight.
“Wait…is the season premiere happening on a Sunday, or will it be EVERY single episode this season airing on a Sunday?” one particular person requested on Reddit. “Because honestly, I love the Bachelor/ette seasons airing on Monday nights or during the week. It gives me something to look forward to that evening after a long, hard day at work.”
However, the show transferring to Sunday nights–and not premiering in January for the first time in years- was a change due to other scheduling conflicts that the community addressed.
According to Parade, the show was moved to Sundays to give American Idol a Monday night time slot–and put it straight head-to-head with NBC’s The Voice. Because the show is transferring to Mondays, its unique Sunday night time was given to The Bachelorette.

The schedule change marked another departure from the norm for the ABC show, which has historically aired in spring or summer season seasons starting in the fourth season.
The other major change was the casting of Paul, who broke the mildew from the same old lead of the show, which has always starred a feminine contestant from a earlier season of The Bachelor.
However, while ABC’s determination to carry her in as a lead was an intriguing change, there was major drama in the week main up to the season premiere.
Reports surfaced on Monday, March 16, claiming that Paul and Mortensen had been concerned in a second home violence incident in February, with the pair making claims against one another.

The claims led to a pause in manufacturing on season 5 of Mormon Wives.
A source told Variety that cameras weren’t rolling at the time of the incident, and that the Draper City Police Department in Utah is investigating. The pause is short-term and is predicted to resume, with minimal affect on the season’s release timeline.
The claims had been initially not anticipated to have an effect on the Bachelorette premiere, but that modified following the release of the 2023 video, which confirmed Paul placing Mortensen in a headlock, hitting and kicking him, and showing to throw three steel stools in his direction, with one allegedly hitting her daughter, who was current at the scene.
ABC has not yet announced what it plans to air in place of the since-pulled Bachelorette episodes.
