This war sequence has been hailed by followers and critics alike, and it is accessible to stream on ITVX. The sequence has been awarded the primary in Ranker’s itemizing of “The 35 Best British War Shows“. Foyle’s War is a British detective drama tv sequence set throughout the time during and after the Second World War. It was created by writer Anthony Horowitz, who was also the screenwriter for Midsomer illegal killings. ITV commissioned the war show after the long-running sequence Inspector Morse ended in 2000. It first aired on ITV in October 2002. ITV director of programmes Simon Shaps cancelled Foyle’s War in 2007, but Peter Fincham revived the programme after good scores for 2008’s fifth sequence, and it might go on to run for a whole of eight sequence.

The sequence synopsis reads: “As World War II rages on, criminals try to take advantage of the resulting chaos. In Hastings, they aren’t having much luck, thanks to Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle. As Foyle’s son Andrew, a fighter pilot in the RAF, fights the enemy at war, Foyle battles the black market, profiteering and murder on the home front. He is dogged in his pursuit of justice, honest to a fault and frequently underestimated by his opponents. Together with his sergeant and his driver, Foyle wages his own war on crime.”

Michael Kitchen, Honeysuckle Weeks, and Anthony Howell starred in the long-lasting war show.

Despite ending in 2015, the sequence is still hailed by followers today, who describe it as a “remarkably rare” show. Foyle’s War’s last sequence has a 100% score from the critics of Rotten Tomatoes. 

One critic said: “A perfect winter indulgence that should take some of the sting out of the fact that this terrific series — once cancelled, then resurrected several years ago — is now really, truly one for the history books.”
