International celebrity Boy George has thrown his hat in the ring to write next yr’s Eurovision Song Contest entry for the UK after The Culture Club star took half in the show representing San Marino this yr. His management had been approached by Senhit and he recalled: “First of all, I thought it was going to be for the UK and I thought ‘oh that’s strange’.

“Then, when he said it was San Marino, I used to be like, ‘Is that allowed?’ So I did a little bit of Chat GPT to discover out, and apparently it’s. I like that, suppose for me, it is great to flip up where you are least anticipated,” he laughed.

The star was speaking as he was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement gong at the 2026 British LGBT Awards following busy period.

Reflecting on his four decades at the top of his game he laughed at the idea he had a career. “A profession is a horrible thought he laughed. It isn’t a profession. It isn’t a job.”

Asked how it felt to now be an icon that LGBT youth look up to he reflected on his own idols. ” My icons had been all straight, which was hilarious.

“They were all heteroinappropriate men but they were smart enough to tap into the zeitgeist of what was going on which is always fashion and femininity. To be excluded from femininity is quite scary because it is such an essential place to be in.”
