Bret Michaels has withdrawn from Donald Trump’s Freedom 250 festival amid an ongoing exodus of performers from the event.

The rocker had been slated to headline the musical lineup on July 3, but has now announced he won’t take the stage.

The 63-year-old glam rock icon broke the news to his Instagram followers in the early morning hours of May 29, citing security considerations and the more and more partisan character of the Washington, D.C., event. This comes as the line-up to the MAGA festival was mocked days before artists started to exit.

In his assertion, the Poison frontman revealed that he was initially invited to participate to “honor our veterans, active military, first responders, teachers, and hard-working Americans from all walks of life.”

However, he famous that circumstances quickly grew to become “divisive” and the event had “evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.” The development follows Martina McBride’s current rationalization of her own withdrawal from the festival.

The news contributes to an increasing roster of artists who have cancelled their festival appearances.

Michaels added, “Concerns have also been raised regarding the safety of my fans, band, crew, and myself, including threats that are completely unfounded and unforgivable.”
